The Principal's Office

The door to the principal’s office is open at all hours, although you will only find Hester at the receptionist’s desk from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is primarily where you can have private conversations with her. Though there’s an actual office in the back, it is always closed and locked.

Oh, monsieur, that's so thoughtful of you. [Her voice sounds as even as it did behind the door but being in the same room as her there's definitely a sort of dreamy quality to the way she's talking, like she's not quite awake yet after a nap.]

Maya was here, a little bit ago. She said I should eat something but I wasn't feeling up to it. [Regardless she reaches over and takes the hot chocolate in both hands to have a small sip.] Thanks.

I...don't think so? I don't really know a lot about lizards unfortunately. [Oh god, do they have lizard food anywhere? What do lizards eat? She should ask the Wizard. Does the Wizard know about lizards?]

She blinks a few times, like she's trying to process exactly what he means before she purses her lips in a slightly mischievous smile.] Give me a second and let me try something-

[She pops open her laptop again, quickly clicking off whatever screen she was on before but Spongebob might catch a quick glimpse of this guy with...some kind of text box at the bottom of the screen. She quickly types something into a new window then closes the laptop again.]

Now we wait just a minute to see what happens.

Yeah, you should probably... Check, next time. It was a little upsetting, at first. [Her mouth twists in distaste-- she's still not sure how to feel about it, especially coming from Hester.]

But you don't have to apologize. Actually, I was gonna ask you if you could give me a copy?

[He pauses for a second. He's stupid but he's not that unobservant.]

So while we're waiting, watcha looking at?

Nnnooooo, it's- honestly not important. [Gently pushes the fourth wall back up.] Are they hungry? I'll bet they're hungry after living in a vending machine. I might have something in here for them...

[Excuse her while she digs through her numerous desk drawers, Angus.]

N...othing. I wasn't looking at anything, I don't know what you're talking about. What's a computer? [Said as she discreetly tries to shove her laptop under a stack of empty manila folders.]

A copy-? Why? [Hester frowns and pulls open one of the top drawers of her desk to pull out a small plate of iced sugar cookies she holds out to Farrah.] I don't think it's a good thing to linger over, Farrah.

[He laughs his very iconic laugh.]

The one in front of you, silly! You weren't looking up anything embarrassing, were you?

[Spongebob seems a lot more amused than anything else.]

[Tea she can turn down-- but the cookies? No way.]

I gave mine to Salieri, when I first saw it. If I tell him I want it back, he's going to think I've gone of the deep end. Kind of like you, right now.

No! [She says it a little too quickly and her cheeks are just getting more pink.] It's...nothing. Just a game I play when it's just me in my office to pass the time.

[Never mind the fact the guy on the poster on the backwall of the office sure looks like the same guy. Total coincidence.]

[Her curiosity overcoming her sense of caution, Hester slowly reaches across the desk and picks up the photo to have a look.]

I wouldn't mind, no. But the problem with that is that they're not. Faked, I mean.

[He can give her the benefit of the doubt, for now. Or at least separate his displeasure with the situation from his opinion of her.

He gives her a smile as he approaches the front desk.]

I have what might be a slightly unusual request to make. Mr. Salieri gave me a set of tools of my trade - combs, and such - and I thought I might offer some of my services to help keep morale high.

Do you know if I could get some scented oils? For facial massage.

[ Look who’s back bright and early on a Monday morning! This time, Eurydice doesn’t bother with pleasantries. Instead, she marches right up to the desk, determined, and immediately starts with: ]

[She'll get a look at the other side, before Discord moves to snatch it back, eyes narrowed.]

See, I have a lot of trouble believing that, on account of this being impossible. So you can understand the confusion.

We've been feeding them fruits and vegetables from the kitchen. [Is that the right way to do this?] But the question was...can we set them free from this prison?

[Between how their time in the dance studio ended, and the motive today, Maya thinks it best to check on Hester. Subtly, of course.

If Hester's watching any cameras, she'll probably see Maya making muffins and making sure to hand them out to everyone. Only... she's somehow ended up with an extra? That certainly won't do. Guess she'll just have to go out of her way to the Principal's office with said muffin, just a little after lunch hours.]

Hester-san, do you have a moment?

I do not! [Yells the girl with the crush.] I just think he's extremely aesthetically pleasing in a non-threatening way and highly talented and I think it's an absolute travesty he hasn't won a Tony yet considering he's been consistently excellent in everything he's performed in for almost two decades!

But it's not a crush, that's just childish.

Wednesday afternoon

[Okay. A better time of day. Earlier in the week. It's been a while since she last stepped into the Principal's office - The Wizard's office? She doesn't know what to call it anymore. She's not here for him.

She doesn't call out, either. She's here in secret. As quietly as possible, she peers inside the room, scanning for Hester.]

There's nothing wrong with having a crush or being childish! He is really handsome after all. If I'm not careful I could develop a crush on him too!
