The door to the principal’s office is open at all hours, although you will only find Hester at the receptionist’s desk from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is primarily where you can have private conversations with her. Though there’s an actual office in the back, it is always closed and locked.

[Maya glances toward the poster, just for a moment, making a mental note. Then her gaze is directed back toward Hester.]

I just wanted to follow up with you about our conversation about the dormitories. [She tilts her head just a little.]

Do you think you could tell me what each one was named after? Usually these places have history, and I was curious to know more about Gershwin.

Hmmm...Sure, I'm sure that'd be fine. Especially if it's in the name of education. [She shifts in her chair to make herself more comfortable and motions for Maya to have a seat across from her.]

The school was named for George Gershwin. He was a famous musician, a pianist and a painter from the early 20th century in the United States.

[Maya steps closer, and then settles into the chair. She tucks one foot behind the other and folds her hands in her lap. So polite!]

I see. And would that make the presumed Rodgers, Broadhurst, Ambassador, and Longacre his contemporaries?

Rodgers and Broadhurst were. Ambassador and Longacre weren't composers.

Playwrights, then? Or perhaps just writers in general?

[She shakes her head, no but then smiles and winks.] Come on, Maya, I thought you'd be better at this.

But no, they weren't individual people. Longacre is a location, an older name for it, and Ambassador is the name of a group. We took the names and assigned them to the dorms and I picked out the color coordination.

[Maya lets out a faint huff of breath. Her cheeks might be faintly pink, oops.]

Those answers seemed too obvious. That's all.

You have good taste in aesthetics though, I will say that.
